Mvule Project announces $20 trees
2009-03-10
We've decided it's time to make it even easier to get involved with reforestation and economic development in Uganda.
First, you have to understand: An amazing group of people helped Mvule Project get off the ground over the past couple of years. Each one chipped in 49 bucks per tree (sounds like a lot, but some bought several!) on the dream that - together - we could start something dramatic and sustainable in East Africa.
Well, it's working! To those generous people we say, "Thank You!" Because of your generosity and the hard work of our Ugandan partners, we are developing a bright new future in their villages.
But we need to do more.
We need *_more people_* involved so we can plant *_more trees_*, strengthen *_more villages_*, invest *_more resources_*, and develop even *_more sustainable opportunities_* for economic and community growth in East Africa.
So, we're lowering the price of tree sponsorship to just *$20*.
(Actually, it's $19.95 but you're smart people and you know what 20 bucks looks like.)
Why?
Simple: to make it easier for more people to get involved. Many people liked the idea, but honestly 49 dollars just sounds like a lot of dough. And we want more people to get on board with us, to share in the dream, to join in and spread the word about Mvule Project. We believe this will allow Uganda to grow to even greater heights.
Let's face it: in this kind of work *_More IS Better!!_*
More tree owners in the U.S. (and UK, Canada, France, Germany ... we're not picky) means that we will plant more trees in each village, reforest more areas, help more communities to develop, and sustain more economic growth for more of our friends in East Africa.
How can we do this? Is it suddenly cheaper?
It's a great question. Short Answer: No it's not "cheaper". We're just going to plant MORE Trees.
A longer answer: We are getting better at managing trees. When we started the project we did not know if we could actually plant and manage 100 trees per village. It seemed like a lot! Now we know we can do as many as 250 per village.
So we think that lowering the price point will invite more partners and still allow us to make the same level of financial investment in each village.
We've also learned a lot from our experience this first year working with our village partners. The guidance of our Project Manager Bobby Garner and especially our Ugandan managers has helped us better understand the potential for this project and the ability of the hardworking folks of Uganda. We're excited about giving them more trees to manage and more opportunities to grow.
This is an exciting and crucial time at Mvule Project. I hope you'll join us and make a difference in the lives of these families who are working so hard to raise a generation of hope and opportunity for their children.
